Using the  properties of the "C" drive to do Windows maintenance

Open Windows Explorer.

In the left hand pane click on the "+" (XP) or symbol (Vista) next to My Computer to open up the list of drives on the computer.

Right click on the icon for the "C" drive, it might be called "local disk", the common label or name of the "C" drive".

The right mouse click provides a list of things to do with whatever you've right-clicked on.

Select "Properties" from the list that appears

You are now looking at the "General" tab. Disk cleanup is here, error checking the disk and defragmentation are on the "Tools" tab.
